Our History

Philip Tyler Polymers was created on the retirement of Philip Tyler in 1994 . Philip was a pioneer in the plastic recycling industry to the earliest days of the industry in 1960’s. Philip’s ethos for honesty, integrity, reliability and close collaboration with both customers and suppliers survives to this day.

In 1995 the company moved to its current offices in Cirencester and in 2002 moved its warehousing and QC facility to a 50,000 ft 2 facility at nearby Aston Down Business Park.

To date we estimate to have facilitated the replacement of c 500,000 tonnes of prime polymer. The company was a founder member of the British Plastics Federation Recycling Council and our MD was elected as Chairman of the BPF Recycling Group as it achieved full member status in 2010.

Roger Baynham has represented the plastics recycling industry at conferences in UK, Europe and USA , as well as engaging in various media activities including BBC Radio 4’s “The Bottom Line”.

After 3 decades as Sales Director, John Leslie-Smith retired in 2018 ( although he continues to act as a consultant mentoring our new commercial team).
